ST. LOUIS (Oct. 18, 2013) – The Doe Run Company (Doe Run) has released its fourth sustainability report, entitled Our Commitment Runs Deep. The report shares how Doe Run delivers on its environmental, social and economic responsibilities.

Based on Doe Run’s commitment to sustainability, the report applies the world’s most widely used sustainability reporting framework, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3.1 Guidelines, as the basis for content. GRI’s framework is designed to help organizations measure, benchmark, and report environmental, economic and social performance by encouraging transparent and balanced disclosure of information that matters most to an organization’s audiences.

“Our reports are an important way for us to share information with our stakeholders and measure our progress against key objectives,” said Jerry Pyatt, Doe Run president and CEO. “We share data on our economic, environmental and social responsibilities, as well as give readers a chance to learn more about how the minerals we mine play a role in modern society.”

Doe Run’s most recent report shares the company’s Sustainability Policy, as well as practical ways the company is addressing its responsibilities. Readers can learn about how the company manages nearly 30 million gallons of water that naturally enter its six mines daily, how it achieved more than 1 million safe hours at two of its operations in 2012, and also how mining in Missouri helps contribute nearly $1 billion to the state economy.

Doe Run’s sustainability reports have won several APEX awards over the years for superb infographics, well-written copy and thorough presentation of complex material. “This year, our report also offers a link to an online reader survey,” stated Tammy Stankey, Doe Run senior communications liaison and project manager for the report. “We want to hear back from our stakeholders to measure how well we are meeting their interests and information needs. Feedback from our readers helps our team shape the content of future reports.”
