ST. LOUIS, Missouri (April 2, 2019) – The Doe Run Company (Doe Run) is pleased to announce two promotions focused on managing relationships with important stakeholders. Michael Montgomery has been promoted to senior counsel & director of regulatory affairs, and Tammy Stankey will hold the role of director of communications.

“Our communities, local and state governments, and regulatory bodies are vital to our ability to operate successfully and provide quality products to our customers,” said Jerry Pyatt, Doe Run president and CEO. “Mike and Tammy have already been instrumental in building these relationships, and will continue to serve as our liaisons to keep lines of communication open with these important stakeholders.”

As senior counsel & director of regulatory affairs, Michael Montgomery will be responsible for strengthening Doe Run’s relationships with regulatory agencies, such as the Environmental Protection Agency, Missouri Department of Natural Resources and Bureau of Land Management.

Montgomery joined Doe Run as a senior attorney in 2012, and will continue to advise the organization on legal matters, as well as regulatory requirements. Montgomery previously was a partner at Husch Blackwell LLP. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at the University of Missouri – Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology), a master’s degree in environmental engineering from Lamar University, and a J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis.

Tammy Stankey has been named Doe Run’s director of communications in recognition of her experience managing the company’s public relations, internal communications and community relations. She initiated and oversees Doe Run’s award-winning annual Sustainability Report utilizing the Global Reporting Index (GRI) framework. She also oversees the company’s efforts to collect input from community members and build plans to address their feedback. One example is working with area schools and organizations to improve STEM education and prepare students for jobs of the future.

Stankey plays a key role in helping the industry communicate the vital role of lead batteries in the renewable energy future and has leadership roles in the Battery Council International, Consortium for Battery Innovation and the International Lead Association. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Lindenwood University.
