Did you know mining is a thriving Missouri industry? Did you also know the number of jobs in the mining industry is growing? The mining sector is expected to grow to 584,400 jobs by 2031, a 12% increase compared to 2021, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
That’s why Doe Run invests in developing our next generation of leaders, and it starts early with students like you. We’re proud to help students discover where their education can take them, through Doe Run internships, summer job programs, experiential learning opportunities and networking events with our company’s leaders. Whether you are interested in attending a career fair or recruitment events or want to learn more about employment while you are still a student, we’ve likely got a program you’ll be interested in.

Programs
Doe Run Internships
Our paid internship program offers hands-on mining, engineering and business operations experience. Typical openings are for Mining, Metallurgical, Geology, Environmental, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering students or positions that support our business operations, such as: Human Resources, Public Relations and Communications, and IT teams. Internships are posted before the Fall Semester and filled in time for you to plan your summer.
We set you up for success by providing a detailed plan with daily tasks, development activities and project work. Interns love to present final projects and their ideas to the Doe Run Leadership Team. Not only are you being mentored by industry experts, but you may get to live and work with other students who can help you gain new perspectives and build lasting friendships.
To be eligible, students must:
- Have completed at least one year in a relevant undergraduate program.
- Be available by the beginning of June through early- to mid-August.
- Be available to work up to 40 hrs/wk; typically during the summer semester.
- Be able and willing to commute to the required location on a daily basis.
Summer Jobs Program
Need a summer job? Join us at Doe Run! We provide local students with summer work opportunities helping our operations teams. These jobs are typically filled by employee referrals. Our summer helpers learn a great deal about work ethic, integrity, attention to detail and follow-through while tackling day-to-day tasks to support maintenance, operations, and administrative and other teams.
To be eligible, students must:
- Be available by the beginning of June through early- to mid-August.
- Be available to work up to 40 hrs/wk; typically during the summer semester.
- Be able and willing to commute to the required location on a daily basis.
Student Study Program
This guided study program provides experiential learning for local students on real-world Doe Run projects over the course of two consecutive semesters. The Student Study Program is individualized to each student who comes to Doe Run, as well as the projects we have available. We work with you to understand your university requirements and how your goals fit Doe Run’s needs. This typically includes university-approved projects, student recommendations, evaluations by the university and Doe Run supervision, mentoring, and guidance toward the student’s end project goals. In some cases, you’ll receive college credit for your experience.
Here’s what it takes to be eligible:
- Completed four semesters of college coursework and pursuing relevant degree as defined by the opportunity.
- Be available to work 20 hrs/wk (days vary depending on the opportunity) for two consecutive semesters.
- Willingness and ability to commute daily to our specified location, no relocation provided.
- Desired knowledge of concepts relating to opportunity.
- Proficiency with Microsoft® Office products and knowledge of relevant systems are highly preferred.
- Requires HR/Technical phone interview to ensure fit.
